We donated a cheque in the amount
of CZK 3 571 549

Today, Dr. Viera Bajčiová; CSc., head physician at the Brno Teaching Hospital’s Children’s Oncology Clinic, received a cheque in the amount of CZK 3 571 549 from Hana Svobodová, manager of the Tesco Endowment Fund, which has organized the Run for Life for the fourth year in a row. The cheque presentation ceremony successfully concluded yet another season of this traditional charity event.

How the funds will help

The Run for Life’s fourth season goal was to obtain CZK 3.5 million. The sum will be used to secure home care for 160 young oncology patients for a period of two years. Not only did the Run for Life achieve its goal, but it exceeded it by CZK 71 549. These excess funds will be used to purchase a mobile mechanical wheelchair for children that, due to their illness, have temporary mobility problems.

An overview of collected funds

The success was achieved with the help of 10 981 runners and many other patrons that donated via DMS (donorship text messages), purchasing blue shoelaces, supporting the virtual runner on Facebook, or directly donating an amount to the Tesco Endowment Fund account. A total of CZK 1 590 526 was collected from runner starting fees and another CZK 354 052 from souvenirs. DMS donations accounted for CZK 54 437, on-line sponsoring brought in CZK 437 834 and the sale of blue shoelaces contributed an amount of CZK 464 700. One must not forget to add CZK 670 000 – the amount donated by sponsors.
In total, the sum of CZK 3 571 549 was collected.

Registration 2012

In 2012, seven cities will again host the Run during the months of May and June. Registration will open in March 2012.
